Seems like the official L.A. tactics are to mostly show overwhelming numbers of officers and military personnel. Those numbers were increasing, as the week rolled along. Also some few rubber bullets. Careful avoidance of firearms, to perhaps avoid retaliation (??)
Next up will be the "No Kings" demonstrations Saturday. Here's Hoping the nation avoids fatalities. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Growing up in West Philadelphia in the 50's we had tremendous respect for the cops. When they chased us off the corner we left, it was the better of two options. Stay and get our asses kicked, then kicked again when we got home or leave, easy choice. Kent State was a sad affair but the Guardsmen could have been hurt or killed. The students weren't just throwing small stones, they were throwing broken chunks of concrete and red bricks, there were a couple of hundred kids and, if I remember correctly, about 12-15 Guardsmen. From what I've seen on TV there are hundreds of demonstrators and they appear to outnumber the cops and guardsmen? The Mayor and Governor need to do something and, do it quick before all hell breaks loose and somebody gets shot! |
