Vietnam began with so-called military advisers being sent, and yes many American lives were lost. Could be called some of the Asian parts of the Cold War. Leaders of both political parties were involved in that tangled web of Vietnam. Yet many folks remember Lyndon Johnson making some moves gathering lots of public scorn over his lack of successes or his setbacks in that war.
And its not entirely clear how Kissinger either helped or not in ending that war. A political football/ debate. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Biggest worry in the 1950's was the rise of the Cold War. And the spread of communism. And as a result, far too many Americans later died in Vietnam for nothing. |
