You may believe you exist in the middle but your comments tend to be more critical of the folks on the right. I've never heard you do the same with the folks on the left. Granted there are fewer of them, but there have been times when some of the folks on the left talk among themselves the same way those on the right do--and even "beat up on" the other faction, as it were. I personally have been publicly reamed here by a couple of the extreme liberals on this forum--maybe you were too busy to notice, but as far as I know you let it ride. Since we don't have private messaging I have to assume so at least. Again, because conservatives outnumber liberals, those are rarer occurrences, and I didn't let it bother me.
As to this not being a forum for birds of a feather, you really can't control that one way or the other. As politics is the topic of conversation, people will take a side, and we will, by pure chance, gather together a larger group that leans more one way and a smaller group that leans the other.way. Expecting a group of middle-of-the-road discussions seems unrealistic. I think the most useful thing you can do with your members is to remind them to be civil, to be respectful of one another, and to be welcoming of everyone. But don't expect them to walk down the middle of the road--not on a politics forum. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'm rather saddened that I have to explain this to you, Joe. I never knew that you leaned so far to the left, until rather recently. Mark, I don’t lean right or left. Of course anyone in the middle is the devil these days. You just proved it. Accusing someone who voted twice for Trump of leaning left shows an extreme view beyond extreme. This forum is not for “birds of a feather.” It is for discussion of politics in a reasoned fashion by birds of any feather. |
