Oh my word! That had to be absolutely terrifying watching those trees fall and hope they didn’t hit your house. Wow 94 hours…. I’m sorry you lost all your food. That’s an expensive replacement you don’t need right now. Too bad you don’t have a generator to at least keep the freezer and a refrigerator running. Good to hear the power and your internet finally came back on. Sure hope this doesn’t happen again to you anytime soon.
Went for my diabetes checkup on Monday and ended up in the ER. My doctor took my comment of having heart palpitation, had me do an EKG, said I have atrial fibrillation and I should get to the ER right away. Drove myself home, got Damon to drive me over to Kaiser Permanente‘s hospital and we were there for 6 hours. They did another EKG, said it looked like it was controlled but I would need to take a different BP medication that will keep my heart from racing (which could cause a stroke) and a blood thinner. Had an echocardiogram today. Got there way early so I sat out in the car and knitted. Wasn’t much to the scan, very easy and the technician has been doing them for 30 years so he was quick and efficient. Next week I go for the consultation with the cardiologist. It was interesting watching his scanning my heart. Got our taxes filed aft I got home. Getting a nice refund. Next year will be different since Damon will have worked the whole year, with my salary and SS. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Just glad it’s done. Hope you got your groceries and still have power. Got corned beef in the pressure cooker for dinner tonight. When the 40 minutes are up I release the pressure and add the cabbage and red potatoes and cook for another 12 minutes. Will be a good dinner. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Friday about 11:30 I was about to go online and let you know you might not hear from me for a few days if we lost power because of the high winds and tornado warnings. They even cancelled school Friday because of the high winds. Anyway just as I sat down to message you I watched one of those 30 foot trees start falling over. It never hit the ground because it fell into some other trees. Just as I called upstairs and told Patricia to bring Lexi and Eva to the basement the second tree went down and that's when we lost our power. The last night 94 hours later we finally got our power back or at least some of it. Then I looked out back and the wires on my elec. pole were on fire. About the time my two trees went down Outlaw Field a small private airport of hit my 79 mile an hour winds. We finally got our internet back about 30 min. ago. We had over 30,000 homes without power. They still have about 7,000 out this morning. It has been wild. Maybe tonight I can finally get some sleep. It turns out that in the yard across the street from us had a telephone pole on the ground. We sat in line a McDonald's to get breakfast Sat. and Sunday. We lost everything in the freezer and both refrigerators. The first two days many of the main roads were blocked because of downed tree. Many trees were up rooted our two were snapped. The girls and I went to Lowes and got a small gas grill because or electric one was useless. Last night we made grilled cheese and tomato soup on it and today It took about 10 min. from start to make hamburgers. Well since everything is up a running I have to go online and order some groceries. I'm gone with the wind in Clarksville <G>/ Kyra |
