Yeah that comment fits into the same category as the classic Chris Matthews “I get a thrill up my leg from Obama”
What the hell was Brooks thiniking to say “when I saw the crease in his pants I knew he’d be a good president“ ? I know the expression “clothes make the man” but i don’t have much use for it, apart from what you would tell an 18 year old going out for his first job interview. When a man gets more mature then his reputation and skills mean a hell of a lot more than dress style. Brooks was once far more sensible once upon a time but then he started to get really really weird as he aged. I wonder whether he suddenly started to dress better? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Me: Indeed. How else would you know the degree to which your suit trousers are to be creased? I thought a bit, and decided perhaps I should explain. Years ago, I came upon a column by the NYT's David Brooks. He attended a campaign dinner hosted by Barry. In the column, Mr. Brooks said something to the effect, "the crease in his trousers convinced me Obama would make a great president." The column might be out there in the either net; ... just too tired to make the effort to track it down. |
