First, Jeffries failed to stop the BBB.  And one Repub was even influenced to change his vote to YES.  The opposite result from what Jeffries had hoped.

Then there were some Dems who were falling asleep during the apparent boring drone of Jeffries message.   A big stain against the speech, as well as the lack of Dem enthusiasm.

C-SPAN footage carried Hakeem's fellow lawmakers with slumped posture and several with their eyes closed for extended periods.  Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) was notably seen on camera dozing off behind Jeffries during his speech.   Rep. Sylvia Garcia, D-Tx, was seen with her head down and eyes closed.  Postings on X also reported seeing several dozing Dems.
