Sounds like you're thinking of Medicaid work requirements.
There's various exceptions built into those programs. Age limits, for example between age 19 to 55 are the work requirement group. Other exceptions include: full time students, people with caregiving responsibilities, pregnant women, people with disabilities, etc. Of course, only folks with very low income are eligible for Medicaid. And the proposed rules will exclude non-citizens, and thus impacting illegal immigrants. All these are loaded political issues, and the Dems are fighting very hard against the funding savings which are being proposed, -- by reducing eligibility, reducing participants, and thus saving funding. Most folks in Ocean Pines would be excluded, because of incomes higher than the Medicaid restrictions, and/or age beyond 55 years for the work requirement. |
