The Big, Beautiful, Bill (I can't believe that was the formal name of it) failed in the Senate. Trump wanted to cut 500 Billion$ from Medicare, and give that and more to the wealthiest 1% in tax cuts, increasing the deficit by trillions. There are many other reasons why it failed, but thank goodness that the Senate had the (insert inapposite word) to reject it. For those of you who have not read the bill, here it is (Project 2025 reads just like it): The GOP prides itself in being physically conservative. Please research the history of borrow and spend to see under which administrations the highest debt and deficits have been incurred. I'm not a fan of tax and spend either. We need a balanced budget, hopefully proposed at the beginning of each physical year, that both sides of the aisle can agree to, and one that will work on reducing our national debt. Being financially indebted to our adversaries is a weakness that we should not want to continue. |
