In some sense it gets to be a symptom of socialist and communist systems. The Soviets tried to suppress religion and the Chinese are famous for it.
Any system of ideas that is independent of the usual rules put forth in the left system get minimized or squelched entirely. “It’s racist to call for students to give the right answer on math tests” “It’s racist promote ideas about health and to tell dieters to avoid sugary sweets like donuts“ They want to take away everything apart from the worship of their own ideas. And then they turn around and demand that we be open minded about religion and stop saying Merry Christmas. What else can one call this but madness? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'm with you completely. The war on Christmas is just stupid left wing nonsense. These same people make war on religion any other day, so it's just another two-faced bunch of nonsense. Of course in part, Christmas is celebrated by some as a secular holiday, and not a religious holiday. And some of us celebrate it as both. I happen to have two good friends on the Firearms Forum who are Jewish. We've been friends since the 90s. We say Merry Christmas because it is an American thing. |
