Contrary to most greenies here in the US and in Europe, Sweden has begun support for nuclear power plants. And they're preparing to rely less on wind and solar.
Its well known among people who follow power plant issues of the advantages of nuclear. Zero CO2 emissions, small land footprint, very small volume of waste, and also reliability of running for weeks and months without interruptions. Whereas solar is interrupted nightly and by cloudy days, and the wind isn't always blowing. Report titled: Sweden makes regulatory push to allow new nuclear reactors Click Here Another: Sweden Shocks Europe: Abandons 'Unstable' Green Energy Agenda, Returns to Nuclear Power Click Here Prime minister Kristersson has made expanding nuclear power generation a key goal for his right-wing government, seeking to reverse a process of gradual closures of several reactors in the past couple of decades that has left the country relying more heavily on renewable but sometimes less predictable energy. Proposed legislation would allow new reactors to be constructed at additional locations across Sweden. Announcing the new policy in the Swedish Parliament, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson warned that the Scandinavian nation needs “a stable energy system.” Svantesson said wind and solar power are too “unstable” to meet the nation’s energy requirements. Svantesson continues to warn other nations that blindly push the green agenda. |
