Regarding the upcoming Summit of the Americas, seems that several ironic developments are piling up. Several key heads of other countries will skip this event. Those absent include one of our key trading partners, Mexico.
Seems likely that Biden will be begging other nations to help stem the flow of migrants here. Kinda like when he's been begging other nations to increase oil production. Same playbook begging others while still having no home grown solutions. Clamps still firmly in place here, cutting back on oil supplies and restricting drilling. Also absence of meaningful border security. Complete reversal of the progress Trump made in stemming the flow of illegal immigrants. Probably throwing some money at other Americas nations which they'll accept and then do [almost] nothing Some reports: Biden's Summit of the Americas Is Becoming a Total Disaster Click Here Quote: "Summit of the Americas looks to be a debacle. . . The US has no trade proposal, no immigration policy, & no infrastructure package." Snubs from key leaders at Summit of the Americas reveal Biden's struggle to assert US leadership Click Here Quote: "it has exposed the difficulties and contradictions in Biden's vow to restore democratic values to American foreign policy." Biden faces doubts on US clout as leaders skip Americas Summit Click Here Quote: "President Joe Biden's attempt to shift focus to the Western Hemisphere has gotten off to a bumpy start, with the leader of Mexico snubbing his invitation . . . The leaders of the Northern Triangle countries of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador — which have long been major sources of migration to the U.S. — also will not attend, raising questions about whether the nations can broker any lasting agreement on the [migrant] issue." |
