Ed - Indeed, I should have said something like "if the burglar was black" and then proceeded with my anecdotal story. I surely did not mean to imply all criminals are black, nor all blacks are criminals. Jim made a similar point.
The point was that we hear stories like this almost every day, and it is always seems to be the position on the left that if the perpetrator of the crime is not white, then the perpetrator is assumed to be some sort of a victim, and it always seems to be blamed on some form of bigotry or privilege. I do not pretend that bigotry and racism doesn't exist. It does today, it has since the first civilizations of antiquity. But it is far less prevalent in America today than in the past, and far less than in most of the rest of the world today. You don't see people sneaking OUT of America and seeking asylum in an African country.. And my other point was that people need to be accountable for their own actions and choices,and not always be blaming someone else for their woes. Mark |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Good thoughts except the "say a criminal paragraph..." Not all criminals are black. All black criminals do not get the special treatment you describe. All people who turn in or prefer charges against a black are not accused of white privilege. You paint with the broad brush there that you accuse others of wielding |
