Description: This is my "spinning friend" Maria weaving at Convergence 2006 in Grand Rapids. Her loom is made of sticks and string; with it, she's weaving complex fabric. Maria is from the village of Chinchero. She was working with friends in the booth of the "Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco", an organization whose goal is to preserve the textile traditions of the region through education, training, and marketing.
