Tablet-woven belt

Photo From: RuthMacGregor - Album: Spinning and Weaving

Description: This belt was woven from some thick-ish handspun linen. The tablets were threaded alternately (S-Z-S-Z), and the belt was woven by weaving about three inches while turning all tablets forward, then three inches turning all tablets back, all the way to the end. The little "bars" that show in the woven texture are the reversal points. The belt will be part of a medieval costume. It's worn by passing the tail through the buckle loop, then knotting. It's going to be a support for my long distaff. :-)
