Photo From: RuthMacGregor - Album: Spinning and Weaving

Description: This is a "fetch hook", also known as a "threading hook" or an "orifice hook". It's used to thread the tail of a yarn-in-progress through the orifice of a spinning wheel's flyer. This one is made of galvanized steel, hammered into shape. I wish I could post the way it feels in the hand! This is really a case of Necessity being the mother of Invention. I didn't want to get into working with metal, but I desperately needed a new fetch hook! <g> Uploaded: 2/24/2007 by RuthMacGregor
