Description: This is a little support spindle from India. To give an idea of size, the whorl on the spindle is a tiny bit smaller than an American quarter, and the spindle weighs 14 grams (a little less than half an ounce). The hook at the top is hammered flat -- I don't know why, but it works exceptionally well that way. It's a "supported" spindle, which means that when you use it, you set that lower end on some kind of hard surface and spin it on its tip. Uploaded: 2/11/2005 by RuthMacGregor
