Description: I got into Assisi Embroidery (counted thread) after trying one for the bookmark swap. These are adapted from border designs in an Italian Assisi Embroidery book. I was surprised that the outline stitch is done first (as running stitch, not backstitch), and the filling stitch (here plain cross stitch) last. The outline is 2 strand DMC, 1 strand for the filling stitches. The outline takes concentration, the fill is less demanding, except for keeping the stitches in the same direction.
