Photo From: RuthMacGregor - Album: Spinning and Weaving

Description: This is a "strick" of fiber that was sold as hemp, but which turned out to be flax. (A "strick" is a bundle of fibers still in the arrangement in which they came from the hackling process). The fibers in this bundle are about a meter long. For spinning, I'll first arrange the fibers onto a distaff, which will hold them while I spin. ...These fibers are fairly coarse, and I think I'll hackle them a little more before spinning them into yarn.
