Description: This home-made "kate" holds charkha spindles for plying. It is a simple tool, very easy to make (flat pieces of wood and eye-screws -- nothing complicated!), and it works just fine. You''d want to add a brake for plying from it to a treadle wheel -- a bit of yarn across the charkha pulleys would do the job.
