I've heard that (unofficially) Cruz says he's not interested in becoming a justice. And I'd generally favor Judicial experience, over Legislative. Legislators need compromise skills, but justices need scholarly accomplishments, and uncompromising faith in legal principals. Different skill sets. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Are the Repubs better off choosing a firmer hand to stand up to "onslaughts" When have they ever? We chose Trump. As you no doubt recall, a Bushie was their 'odds on.' I don't give a damn about onslaughts; onslaughts come and go. Trump battled through more than a few and showed his measure. Generally speaking, our lives tend to go on unaffected; damage is limited to members of the legislature. Having said as much, I want Thomas to retire and Cruz to be nominated immediately, and on the bench by mid-January. We'll get perhaps 30 more years out of Cruz, and, an Associate Justice that promises to show at least a modicum of inquisitiveness during oral arguments. Three problems with that: Collins, Murkowski & Romney. Much is being said about the Republicans holding on to the Senate. I would rather hear much is being said of conservatives gaining strength in the Senate. If, again, you need a translator, I'm sorry. As the mind's light dims, brighter grows the light with the approach of the Eternal Light. Bob |
