This is nothing new... Texas lawmakers (guess which party) also fled the state capitol in 1979, 2003, and 2021 breaking a quorum to stop pending legislation. In 1979 the group was called the "Killer Bees" by the national press, and the state police and Texas Rangers were called "Bumble Bees" when they failed to find them hiding in a garage apartment in West Austin.
