Trump has now added his comments about the Air Force One issue.  The Prez said:  "Qatar had made a 'very nice gesture' in offering the U.S. a 747 jet to act as Air Force One, blaming the need for any such donation on delays at U.S. manufacturer Boeing."  

Qatar’s media attaché to the US, Ali Al-Ansari said  “The possible transfer of an aircraft for temporary use as Air Force One is currently under consideration between Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense, but the matter remains under review by the respective legal departments, and no decision has been made”

So now there appears new details available to the public: 

<  The old Air Force One planes are from 1990, about 35 years old, whereas the Qatar plane is  younger and travelled far fewer missions & flight hours..

<  The delivery of new Boeing Air Force One pair of planes was originally contracted in 2018 by Trump but deliveries have now stretched to 2027 and beyond.  

<   The donation would be a transfer from the Qatar military to the US  Dept of Defense, not personally to Trump.  And then ultimately to Trump's presidential library.

<   Presidential libraries are generally funded by outside donations, but with maintenance funded by the US govt. 

<  Examples of donations of certain artifacts to the presidential libraries have historically included an armored Cadillac limousine to Bill Clinton's library. 

<  A Space Capsule commemorating the first US man put into orbit was given to John F Kennedy's library

<  A retired Air Force One Plane was given to Reagan's library.  (Seems a parallel final destination)

<  The Biden library is estimated to cost $200 Million to $300 Million in donations.    

< the Obama presidential library original budget was around $500 million. However, rose in 2022, estimated to cost $830 million.

Of course the Trump aircraft debate will last a bit longer before this is ultimately decided.
