Dear gang
I know obviously that sitting presidents are subject to removal from office. However I don’t know how current and ex presidents may be treated as regards punishments resulting from civil and criminal prosecution. We offer current and ex presidents special treatment such as “secret service“ to keep them safe while in office abs after they have left office. But certain criminal and civil punishments seem to contradict the idea the current and former presidents should be protected. Don’t get me wrong If they are indicted in a criminal case or they lose a civil case then I WOULD expect the individual could receive some large financial punishment which they would be responsible for. Also I would expect that they might be barred from certain public offices and running for the same. But wouldnt it make sense if current and former presidents were exempt from jail time and certainly from capital punishment? thanks Doug |
