Tom, you should be a speech writer for conservative political candidates--barring that you should be a conservative news contributor. You make more sense than almost anyone I hear on the air today.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where:
During July's heat waves a number of power companies have urged customers to conserve power. Why does this fly in the face of Biden's policy for selling so many electric vehicles? And even with mandates in later years.

And some utilities will even be able to cut on & cut off the hours when folks can recharge. Counter productive.

Foolish policy. Violating freedoms to chose.

People have so many needs to be on time-- and without frustration of an EV needing to be charged up. Getting to work on time, medical appointments, medical emergencies can be life threatening. Various meetings of groups (even OPA). Getting needed prescriptions, getting needed cash from banks.

Folks will likely keep (at least) one gas powered vehicle in the family, to cover these needs. Or at least a hybrid powered by gas as well as electric energy.

Areas which requested conserving of power included: New York & California, Arizona, Connecticut, PJM (Pa, NJ,MD grid), Southwest Power Pool (across 14 states) and others. Even Hawaii !!! Pretty widespread problem.

And main stream media has had very sparse mention-- a cover up for Biden's policies.

Heavy handed govt intervention. Even censorship----- as well as poor policies for energy production. Because wind & solar are intermittent, there's the need to maintain enough standby power facilities to cover the wind & solar interruptions.
