Understood, and likely true. I was being somewhat facetious in my comment about Biden, and the comment someone made about him being on drugs. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Note: I am going a bit off topic and so I transferred this thread to 'The Lounge' and changed the subject line. Perhaps Joe would applaud me for this, I don't know... They say Hitler took drugs regularly to keep him going as well. Well, we might all agree that there are some drugs and supplements are *not* really harmful. And sometimes a drug such as a stimulant might be used to good ends. There was a well known (Hungarian?) mathematician named Paul Erdos who said that he simply could not produce good proofs and calculations in the absence of a certain stimulant drug that he preferred. When worried friends confronted him about over use of the stimulant, he would tell them that without it, he would only stare at the empty page... Then again, there may be much better ways to get the mind moving. Some mathematicians who worked for Bell Labs said that they enjoyed getting on a trampoline for inspiration. As their bodies were bouncing up and down, new mathematical ideas would spring into their heads! |
