You dig up 500,000 pounds of the earth's crust for just one battery.
A typical EV battery weighs 1,000 pounds,
It contains 25 pounds of lithium, 60 pounds of nickel, 44 pounds of manganese, 30 pounds of cobalt, 200 pounds of copper and 400 pounds of aluminum, steel and plastic.
Inside are over 6,000 individual lithium-ion cells.
Requires processing 25,000 pounds for the lithium, 30,000 pounds of ore for the cobalt, 5,000 pounds of ore for the nickel, and 25,000 pounds of ore for copper.
Mining of the ore typically requires thirty-five to forty huge 797 Caterpillar haul trucks.
Each 797 truck uses around half a million gallons of diesel fuel a year [multiplied by thirty-five and then multiplied by the number of mines.]

Also at the end of those batteries lives, the toxins in the chemicals will produce problems in the landfills. Again, huge anti-environmental waste "stuff."

49,000 electric Ford cars have been recalled. Quote: "the vehicle will experience an immediate loss of motive power. The vehicle will coast to a stop."

Then will experience a "no start condition" in the next drive cycle.

Ford had the highest number of recalls among major car companies in 2022 as of May. The affected cars include both 2021 and 2022 Mustang Mach-E models.
