I think I read "Zen" about the same time I picked up Wolfe’s The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby  Please, don't ask me what it was about; and, don't ask me what Salinger's Catcher in the Rye was meant to convey... other than, "I'm J.D. Salinger and I'm one self-absorbed S.O.B.."### Some time in the future, I might say "Hey, Doug. Has it ever occurred to you that the architecture of the cosmic web (galaxies, filaments, explosions, cosmic rays) pretty much imitates the activities and structure of the brain vis a vis somas, dendrites and axons?" Maybe when we stare into space we are really staring into the Brain of God. What? NO! I'm not drinking! |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yeah, “Zen and the Art of Motorcyle Maintenance“ is a classic that many people were turned on by. His second book is also rather eye opening, too. Also a bestseller but I find that when I mention it to people they tend to respond as you did and say they’ve read only the first.
