For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I guess it made the adults feel like they were doing something proactive because the truth of the matter was if Philly got hit with a "H Bomb" there wouldn't be anything left. Do you remember the Anti Aircraft guns around the cities? They were replaced in the mid 50's by Nike AA missiles that were going to stop the hoard of Russian bombers that were going to attack us. Turns out that after the colipase of the Soviet Union we found out they didn't have a huge fleet of bombers, in fact they had less than seventy, only about half of which were flyable. On May Day they flew them in big circles over the parade route, made our diplomats and CIA people think they had thousands! |
