People asking for communism are indeed ignoring the deaths it has brought, the depravity, the stifling of human achievement, subduing the peoples, No freedom of choice, of speech, of due process of law, of religion, of right to bear arms.  On and on.. 

All of the above accounts for folks trying to escape Communist countries, as you've said.  I'd agree.
