California folks as well as Texans are now realizing that.  For Texans it was the freezing weather which brought them to acknowledge it.  For California its been the heat waves.  And the surge towards elec. vehicles will only exacerbate these problems.   

Then there's the issue of limited life of equipment. Solar & wind may go 15 or 20 years, but fossil & nuclear power plants last 50 and 75 yrs..  And have much smaller footprints, using far less acres of land.  Thus avoiding destroying any farmlands, grazing lands, meadows or forests, like occurs with solar & wind .
