And no one is "afraid of books OR thinking," they are simply not for having books about sex change for kids, teen homosexuals, drag queens, and other titles that are clearly inappropriate for elementary school children. That's what this is all about. And while parents would like to be in charge of deciding what does and doesn't belong in a school library, when school districts block them, it's kind of hard to do. I see this as a common left wing move--"our way or the highway." Yet publicly the left tries to shame those with a simple desire to raise kids with some control.

In early April 2025, the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, removed 381 books from its library following a directive from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office to eliminate materials promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
The removal was based on a list of search terms provided by a temporary Academic Libraries Committee, including terms like affirmative action, critical race theory, gender identity, and white privilege.
The banned books covered topics such as the Holocaust, civil rights, feminism, and racism, including notable titles like Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and Ron Stallworth’s The Gangs of Zion.

Most of those book have been returned to the shelves, but the above paragraph indicates the mentality of the current administration.
