Now that we have officially launched our site, I just wanted to drop by to say a big "Thank You!" to Joe for all his help.
I've been webmastering communities since 1995, starting at the biggest community of them all, AOL. Thankfully, I survived THAT experience!
Since then I've used several free and commercial web-based community infrastructures, and I have to say that the feature set and ease of use of FA's system is the best I've encountered to date. The administrative area is neatly laid out and very intuitive to use, and the layout options are quite sufficient to allow a webmaster ample room for customization and adding that personal touch to their message board.
In addition, Joe was extremely helpful all week, offering suggestions, clarifying protocols, and even getting his hands dirty in my admittedly less-than-perfect custom coding. I feel fortunate that our site got in on the ground floor here at FA, and that I was able to get so much personal attention. I'm sure that as FA grows, there won't be enough hours in Joe's day for him to do for others all he managed to do for our site. Thank you, Joe -- you kicked patootie this week.

Not hard to use this site at all and it's fun to boot!
I would have to say that CIS WAS *ONCE* THE BEST in the forum department. I think this is darn near identical to our fora, in many ways. I'm quite amazed at this interface, and VERY impressed. I also like the email notifications that I have messages waiting. It's extremely convenient for me - all I do is click on the link and WALLA!

Pretty cool site. A lot of differences from what we are used to over at Compuserve but we will adjust. I love the icons. They are just too much fun! And the control over font is neat too. I can actually make it big enought to read without my glasses.

I like the new setup on ForumsAmerica. Much eassier to use.

FWIW, for me, this site/page on ForumsAmerica comes up a lot faster than the Compuserve Trainnet did via the Internet using my telephone dial up ISP.

Besides, the more Java stuff they put on here the more fun we can have, I must say, this ForumsAmerica site is much better than that other one, what?

I like it, I like it. I've gotten a few digests from the Yahoo Group, and I found it hard to follow. Probably since I've never belonged to a newsgroup before. This Crafts Forum on ForumsAmerica has a feel I think I could get used to. Threads, threads, threads. How could we (of all people) think we could live without them.

Hi, Anne! Glad you're here! I prefer ForumsAmerica to Yahoo also - many better features here, for one thing.

Kathy,
This Crafts Forum on ForumsAmerica is wonderful! CompuServe made it very difficult to access Fibercrafts from the Internet, and Yahoo Groups hung my email address out in public for the spammers to view.
Here, the notes are organized by subject (unlike the Yahoo digest), and the navigation is easy once you get the hang of it. It is also easier to reset "highest message read" and to select specific sections than it ever was on CompuServe.
Congratulations on finding a new, superior home so quickly!
